ENTENMAN ART AT THE RITZ
The Arts Council of Mississippi County will be
hosting an artist reception at The Ritz Civic Center this Thursday, November
9 at 5:00 PM, for local artist Lori Entenman. Entenman is featured as The
Artist of the Month for November.
Lori Entenman, a Blytheville resident of 2
years, grew up on a cattle ranch operated by her father in a small town
named Wolf Creek in Oregon. She has been a self-taught artist since her
youth. Entenman tells of the days when she was young and being the oldest
of 7 children, that money was tight and that her father and grandfather took
her to the woods and taught her how to use the products of mother nature to
make her own paints and chalk. For paper, she used to go to the local
newspaper and get the “end bolts” of rolls of paper and stretch it out on
wood to paint on. She would then sell her paintings and portraits at the
local fair and flee-markets so she could buy clothes for school.
Entenman put her artwork to the side when she
married her husband Don, so she could raise her two sons and later help with
the raising of four grandchildren. She worked in Denver, Colorado for many
years as a Fraud Investigator at some of the local banks. About 4 years
ago, she decided to take brush in hand and try her skill once again. She
currently teaches a non-credit Community Art class at the Arkansas
Northeastern College in Blytheville. Entenman says that her class has been
well received by the community and has expanded from a day class this
semester to both a day and a night class for next semester.
