The Mission of 

The Arts Council of Mississippi County 

is to enhance the quality of life for citizens of all ages by providing arts opportunities, assistance with artist development and utilization of all educational outreach channels to instill arts awareness and development.

GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS SHOWING
 

  1. The artwork to be exhibited by the artist must not have been shown in any previous exhibition at The Ritz Civic Center Gallery.

  2. All artwork must be framed, matted, or wired and ready to hang – unless on stretched canvas. Sawtooth hangers are not advisable.

  3. The Arts Council of Mississippi County reserves the right to decide on the suitability of submitted works due to subject matter and quality.

  4. All work must be original and not copied from the artwork of persons other than the artist, unless specified as a master copy.

  5. Insurance for the artist’s work during the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist and/or the owner of the artwork. The Arts Council will take reasonable care to ensure the security of the artwork, but can not assume any liability for the loss of or damage to any property or possession while at the Ritz Gallery.

  6. Each piece presented must be marked with medium, dimension, and title for exhibition.

  7. The Arts Council will retain a 20% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Works not for sale should be clearly marked: “NFS”. Otherwise, provide a price list for reference.

  8. The Arts Council presents a different artist for approximately one month. The artist is responsible for removing his or her work and materials no later than one day after the end of the exhibition, unless agreed upon by the artist and The Arts Council. The Arts Council will not be responsible for works left beyond the show closure. Artwork can not be stored at The Ritz Civic Center.

  9. Any artist not selected by The Arts Council who wishes to have an exhibition must pay for all expenses. This includes stamps, invitations, publicity, and refreshments.
