Local
artist, -Robert James Phelps, first became active with The Arts Council in 2005
when he put
on his first art exhibit, "Art of the Gorilla King." Since that
time he has put on a number of various exhibits displaying his many works of
art.
For years -Robert worked with the Arts Council as a volunteer. In 2008, he made
the transition from volunteer to board member.
In addition to displaying his art work, -Robert has helped teach a summer art
workshop for children, appeared on stage at the Ritz as an actor for a number of
shows, and has even incorporated poetry and various other forms of writing into
his exhibits.
-Robert believes that art plays a large role in society and should be kept alive
and strong for future generations. He hopes to one day become an art teacher
himself and to continue to do his part to create a more interesting world.
