Unique Exhibit at The Ritz Gallery Delta Gateway Museum Design Work Featured February of 2008, students of the Interior Design program of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, visited Blytheville, met with civic clubs and community leaders, members of the Museum Commission, and in a Town Hall Meeting open to the public. They also studied the interior of the historic Kress building on Main Street in Blytheville which will be the home for the Delta Gateway Museum. The purpose of this was to develop ideas and suggestions for the interior design and space usage of the building as the development of the museum continues. The students were organized into two-person teams to research and prepare design suggestions. As part of that process, each team prepared visual display boards showing their overall layout ideas as well as the finish materials possible for walls, floors, lighting, etc. Several of those boards are being displayed for the month of January in The Gallery of The Ritz Civic Center, 306 W. Main Street in Blytheville, AR. An opening reception is set for Tuesday, January 6, 2009, from 5:00-7:00 pm, hosted by The Arts Council of Mississippi County and the members of the Delta Gateway Museum Commission. The reception is free of charge and all are welcome to attend. The display will remain open to the public for viewing during regular business hours for the entire month and when evening and weekend events are presented at The Ritz.
