“Show of Wonders” Set for The Ritz
It is time for the second 2009-2010 Series event presented by The Arts Council of Mississippi County! Saturday, October 10th at 7:00 pm at The Ritz, 306 W. Main in Blytheville , they will present the “Show of Wonders” featuring illusionist and magician Rocky Clements.
Once upon a time over
twenty thousand people made their living traveling across small town America,
performing music, dance, comedy, juggling, ventriloquism, magic and illusion,
and other unique variety acts in small movie houses, auditoriums, community
centers, and on street corners. It was a time before
television, before computers, the internet, and video games.
A time when neighbors came together just to laugh and to be entertained.
The idea of small town traveling shows faded from American culture over
sixty years ago. You can now take a step back and revisit
those days of mirth and amusement with Rocky
Clements’ “Show of Wonders Illusion and Magic Show.”
The production is reminiscent of the old style traveling magic shows of
the vaudeville era. From the red velvet and gold tasseled
stage décor to the antique props, many dating back to the early 1940’s, the show
is an ornate and entertaining tribute to an almost lost art of classical magic
and family fun. One of the largest touring magic shows in
the United States , this show offers an alternative for those seeking something
different from the usual forms of entertainment, and takes spectators to another
time--- “once upon a stage.”
Tickets are only $10.00 for adults, and children 12 (twelve) and under are admitted free with a paid adult. That makes this a great family entertainment value!
